Walter Trezek has over 35 years' experience as a consultant in the digital commerce & logistics industry.
His official positions include Chairman of the Consultative Committee (CC) of the Universal Postal Union, CO-Chair of Ecommerce Europe responsible for eLogistics, and advisor to the European Commission (Logistics, VAT, Customs, Postal Market), where he is actively involved in a range of standardization issues (UPU, ISO, CEN, ETSI) and shaping this business environment.
Walter literally grew up in the postal industry, working for the family company, a distributor of franking and inserting machines throughout Central and Eastern Europe. After gaining his Master’s in Law from the University of Vienna, Walter joined Stamps.com, the Silicon Valley internet start-up and inventor of the digital stamp where he was Senior Consultant and a member of their successful 1999 IPO team. In 2000 Walter was invited to become Head of Technology & Head of Sales at Austria Post where he contributed to the restructuring of the organization.
In 2004, he founded Document Exchange Network, offering boutique consultancy services to stakeholders in the commerce & logistics industry under the CLS brand. He is a popular speaker & moderator at global industry events and conferences, and is regularly called up by journalists and asked for his take on industry developments.
Martin Füll is an expert in postal IT systems (UPU: IPS; CDS; PEG), tariffs & cost models in the postal & logistics world, and the European postal & CEP market, and has built up over 20 years of consulting experience in market research & forecast models, applied postal & ICT law, cost accounting, IT project management and logistics.
With a Master’s in Business Economics from the Vienna University of Economics and Business, Martin started his career in marketing and IT/Database Management before joining Austria Post where he first met Walter Trezek.
At CLS he has acted as MD (interim management) for several companies, and assumed responsibility for global tariff management, setting-up & redesigning a multi carrier / multi-channel ecommerce IT platform managing 100+ postal and courier/parcel/express companies (and their tariffs), and combining postal & freight customs clearance. He has lead projects including designing and developing software/middleware for the logistics industry, establishing ETOEs, and optimising processes & costs for cross-border ecommerce stakeholders.
Jan Hyttel is a logistics and transport specialist with over 30 years’ experience in international, cross-border logistics and multi-transport nodes.
He is an expert to the European Union's EU4Digital initiative, and a Board Member of GS1, the international standards body bringing together companies along the entire supply chain through real-time tracking, traceability, and supply chain optimization. He is also on the Board of DCC Lithuania, the main organization representing Danes and Danish companies operating in Lithuania, and of Lithuania’s transport innovation association, Transporto Inovacijų Asociacija.
With strong people management and product development skills, Jan has a passion for business development, turning new ideas and technologies into mainstream products and services. He has extensive experience in logistics software as the driver behind ParcelABC C2C software, LocTracker Telematics for trucks and vans, and the Trevio logistics management system, and is an experienced consultant providing logistics/SCM, start-up, M&A, and strategy services to clients in the logistics and transport industry.
Sid Hart has been at the forefront of innovation in the post, transport and logistics markets with a particular focus on disruptive technologies and software for the past ten years. As a c-suite executive and consultant he is experienced in managing international operations and corporate development, including the expansion of high growth tech businesses.
Sid brings to CLS a particular passion for optimizing the customer experience, whether at a corporate or retail level, paired with in-depth knowledge of user experience, CSat metrics, and international logistics.
He started his career in transportation intelligence with
the Royal Air Force, and in 2012 was involved in the logistics planning for the
London 2012 Olympics. He holds a BA, MBA, and accredited directorship courses
from the UK's Institute of Directors. He has led large teams and companies
across time zones and geographies, representing business internationally with
governments and legislative bodies, and managing multi-million pound sales and
projects.
Michael Flachsel is a cross-border ecommerce and logistics/freight forwarding expert with over 30 years of experience in the industry.
Originally from the freight forwarding sector, he soon specialized in international air freight. He worked for Austrian Airlines in the air freight sector for many years, built up the Cargologic operations at Frankfurt/Main Airport, and was responsible for products and sales at ATC Aviation Services AG in Germany. He has also worked in sales for Frankfurt/Hahn Airport.
Michael is a proven specialist in international air transport and related ground handling & fulfilment solutions, as well as postal and commercial customs clearance, especially in Germany. Widely connected within the German market, Michael works at the interface between the new, digital requirements of international ecommerce (customs clearance, logistics, related data services), where he focuses on operational implementation on site to bring projects and ideas to fruition.
Zoltan Patkai is a recognized expert in the field of digital transformation and postal/logistics standardization and has over 20 years’ experience working with private and public sector stakeholders.
Zoltan started his career at Unilever Hungary & UK before becoming Group Manager for GS1 at their Global Office in Brussels. He has worked with the EU as a Senior Business Analyst for DGEMPL, as a Standardisation Expert & Project Manager with the European Committee for Standardisation (CEN) in Brussels, and as an Expert to the EU4Digital initiative, supporting the digital economy and society in the Eastern Partnership countries in cooperation with Ernst & Young.
He is a Council Member of the Gerson Lehrman Group (GLG), where he is involved in customs systems, standardization, change management, stakeholder engagement, taxonomies, product catalogues, surveys, knowledge management and digital process transformation.
Jesper is a logistic and intra logistic expert with over 30 years’ experience, including in chilled food logistics. He is the founder of Sesam GmbH, and inventor of the company’s hard- and software for unattended digital one-time for delivery and pickup of goods and parcels. He has also worked as a consultant for intralogistics, in the tourist/airline industry, and in executive positions within food processing, food logistics and sales.
He is the founder and president of Pro PaketBox e.V. the association of manufacturers of residential parcel boxes, and is Sustainability speaker for Logistic Natives. He is also part of the process of defining the new German postal laws and acts as an expert on the German official sustainability certification Blauer Engel for last mile certification.
Jesper has a passion for sustainability and uses his analytical skills to analyze complex systems and their impact on the environment.
Gary Caroll has four decades of experience in the postal industry and international ecommerce. Well connected in the postal world, he has extensive expertise in cross-border ecommerce, international airfreight, and international logistics.
After 27 years with Royal Mail in sales roles including Head of Sales
Development (Parcelforce) and International Client Director (Royal Mail), he
led commercial and business development at Jersey Post. From 2016 to 2022, he
was Managing Director of Asia Pacific Post, the umbrella organisation of 28
postal operators which includes Australia Post, China Post, India Post, Japan Post,
Korea Post, and Singapore Post.
An internationally experienced senior executive with a proven track record of delivering outstanding operational and commercial performance in challenging, complex, and highly politicised national and international organisations, Gary is currently a Management Consultant & Interim Manager at Final Mile Consulting (UK), and became a partner to CLS in 2023.
